Benefits Assistance: SNAP, TANF, Florida KidCare

​SNAP

 

​​SNAP provides nutritional support for low-income seniors, people with disabilities living on fixed incomes, and other individuals and families with low incomes. SNAP is a federal program administered by the Florida Department of Children and Families Office of Economic Self-Sufficiency (ESS). ESS is responsible for determining eligibility for SNAP using federal guidelines.

Florida KidCare

Florida KidCare offers high-quality, income-based health insurance just for kids. Costs are based on a child’s age, household size and adjusted gross annual income. Many families pay just $15 or $20 a month to cover all qualifying children in the household. Florida KidCare is designed specifically with kids in mind, giving them access to the health services they need throughout each stage of growth and development.
TANF

The program provides cash assistance to families with children under the age of 18 or under age 19 if full time secondary (high school) school students, that meet the technical, income, and asset requirements. The program helps families become self-supporting while allowing children to remain in their own homes.
